How much does a design or layout cost?
As little as $60.00 for a heat loss/gain design or $.12/sq.ft.
for a complete design/layout.
When will I pay for the design or layout?
Not until we discuss the details of your project and are in
agreement of your needs. Payment should accompany the project
information worksheets that you fill out and return to us.
How long will it take to get the design or layout
back?
That depends on the amount of work involved. A design should
be returned to you within two days and most design/layouts should
take three days after I receive your worksheets.
How do I begin the process of gathering the required information?
Contact me; we’ll talk about your project and I’ll
E-mail you the project information worksheets.
Will I be able to read the design or layout?
Absolutely! The floor plan is scaled, has easily identifiable
descriptions and sizes and is color coded throughout. If you don’t
understand something, the Glossary is just a click away. If that
doesn’t answer your question, then we’re just a couple
clicks away!
Will I need to have any special knowledge of how to measure my rooms?
No! All you need is a yardstick and copy the way we show you
our Rough Floor Plan.
Do I need to make an exact floor plan drawing?
I normally ask you to round off the measurements to the closest
3”. (Example: 10’9 1/2” could be rounded to
10’9” or 11’11” would be 12’0”)
Does where I live have a bearing on the design for heating or cooling?
Yes! Different outdoor design temperatures are used for each
project. This temperature directly affects the indoor system requirements.
We have the outside design temperatures for every city and territory
in the world.
Do I need to mention the kind of windows or doors (example: storm,
thermo pane, E-glass, etc.) I have?
Yes! Different qualities of windows and doors have different
U-factors which are like different thicknesses of wall or ceiling
insulation.
Do I need to mention the thickness of my carpet or
padding?
Thickness of sub-flooring, finish flooring and padding is
critical for radiant floor heat. The type and thickness of the
floor is also important, (example: hardwood, slate ceramic, padding,
etc.)
Do I need to mention outside shade sources (example: porches, awnings,
trees, etc,)?
It is good practice to mention shade especially if it protects
the structure from direct sunlight. The winter sun is great for
heating but the summer sun is bad for air conditioning.
Can I send blueprints?
Blueprints are ideal! We’ll take off the necessary information
for the design/layout and return the “before and after”
prints to you.
Will I receive
my design and layout via Internet or mail?
Your choice! I can also FAX them or if you’ll pay my
travel, I’ll hand deliver them.
